Marianna Borisovna Romanovskaya
Marianna (Marina) Borisovna Romanovskaya (February 5, 1929, Moscow — August 31, 2009) was a Soviet, Russian, and German sculptor and medallist. She was the wife of sculptor Pavel Shimes.
Biography
Marianna Romanovskaya was born on February 5, 1929, in Moscow. From 1950 to 1956 she studied at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V. I. Surikov in the sculpture faculty, where among her teachers were D.P. Schwartz and N.V. Tomsky. From 1956 to 1958, she was a postgraduate student under N.V. Tomsky. Since 1956, she participated in art exhibitions. She became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1958. In 1997, she moved to Cologne with her husband. Works by Marianna Romanovskaya are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Hermitage Museum, and other museums.
