Anna Maksovna Birshtain
Anna Maksovna Birshtain (born October 10, 1947, Moscow) is a Soviet and Russian artist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts. Laureate of the Silver Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.
Biography
Anna Maksovna Birshtain was born in 1947 in Moscow to a family of artists, Max Birshtain and Nina Vatolina. In 1973, she graduated from the Surikov Moscow Art Institute, where she studied under A. M. Gritsai and D. D. Zhilinsky. According to Birshtain, 'it was very boring at the institute, since we had already learned everything that was possible at our age back in school.' Two years later, she was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR.
She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including abroad. Her first significant solo exhibition took place in 2003 ("School of Li..." at the New Manege). Her works are held in various museums in Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, etc.
Works by Anna Birshtain are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, as well as in many other museums and collections.
Personal Life
Husband — sculptor Alexander Tsigal. Daughter — fashion designer Masha Tsigal.

Her works are part of the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Kiev Museum of Russian Art, museums in Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo, Nikolaev, and private collections in Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, and the USA.
