Stanislav Vladimirovich Plutenko

Stanislav Plutenko was interested in drawing and painting since childhood, but at his parents' insistence, he received an education as a turbine designer at the Moscow Automotive and Mechanical Institute, and later studied at the Plekhanov Institute, simultaneously taking private painting lessons. During his military service, Plutenko worked as a decorator for officers' clubs. Since 1981, he has worked as a window display designer and has exhibited as an artist since 1984. Since 1989, he has exhibited abroad. In the 1990s, solo exhibitions took place in Stockholm (Sweden), Helsinki (Finland), Ulm (Germany), London (UK, Institute of Contemporary Art), and private galleries in the USA. In Russia, Plutenko is a regular participant in Art Manege, Art Moscow, and Millionaire Fair exhibitions. Since 1991, he has been a member of the Professional Union of Graphic Artists, and since 1997 a member of the International Academy of Creativity (Moscow).

Plutenko describes his style as "See the unusual and make it even more unusual." Various critics characterize his genre as surrealism (he is included as a surrealist in the "International Encyclopedia of Fantastic, Surrealist, Symbolist, and Futurist Artists"), hyperrealism, "fantasy" realism, or salon style. The artist works on his canvases quickly, completing a new work in 7-10 days (Sergei Zagraevsky, editor-in-chief of the "Unified Art Rating," notes the "smooth, masterfully executed, yet completely soulless and spiritless works"), although he uses a complex technique that includes oil and acrylic paints, tempera, watercolor, and thin glazes with an airbrush. Three main alternating themes in Plutenko's works are the East, grotesque, and romanticism.
