Mikhail Vasilyevich Rytyaev
Born on February 12, 1946, in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.
Up to 1971, worked there as a theater artist.
Graduated from the Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio at the Moscow Art Theatre (Stage Production Department).
Until 1976, worked as the chief artist of the Moscow 'Hermitage' Theater.
Since 1976 – freelance artist.

Works are held in the Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art, the Muranovo F.I. Tyutchev Museum-Estate, Voronezh Regional Museum of Fine Arts, Vologda Museum, the private gallery of Karen Berne in London, '369' gallery in Edinburgh, Seibelman Gallery in Mainz, Germany, and in private collections in the USA, Japan, Finland, and Germany.

Author about himself
I explore my national culture, beginning from paganism, the mythological way of thinking, with my own perspective on history. (Christianity in Russia is 1 thousand years old, paganism - tens of thousands). I am interested in the 'collective unconscious', the mentality of the people, defined by its own mythological code, which I try to identify, understand, and use for artistic inheritance of the existence of the people. This is the core, on which are strung the layers of the spiritual history of the nation.
My main language is archaism, the parallelism of cultures in the initial stages of development of any civilizations.
