Author about himself

...My painting is, of course, of the Moscow school of painting. But all these years I have allowed myself to be myself.
...The style of my painting is romantic expressionism.
...I am an optimist...I strive to work with color, the pure color of the Impressionists, and to be as sincere as Rembrandt and Goya...

Critic

...Works without deceit or trickery, created to hang on the wall, not to be part of a performance art involving the cutting of canvases... Her works possess passion and energy, full of allusions and expression...
Anna Chudetskaya, 'Within Genre Bounds,' Stolitsa magazine No. 6, p.76, January 5, 1995.
...Galina Bystritskaya's painting represents a significant move toward a new perception of the world, reconciling freedom with a sense of security, inequality and their fundamental unity...
Artemy Blitz, 'The Art of Love,' p.21, Russian Courier, monthly supplement No. 9, 'Literature and Art.'
...Galya Bystritskaya, seeking expressive self-expression, builds her spiritual cosmos by the great stars... The laws of harmony and rhythm, mastered by her, are embodied in the visible forms of the material world...
K.G. Bogemskaya, Candidate of Art Criticism, from the article for the exhibition catalog 'For Three', November 23-December 7, 1991.
