Ahlden/Aller - 9-09-2023
In the style of Prof. Eduard Braunsdorf, this exhibited, round pedestal expands with a rounded shoulder, transitioning into a recessed neck with a swinging rim. On both sides of the wall, there is a colorful arrangement of chrysanthemums or wild rose blossoms in soft painting, cartridge-like framed by trellis-like relief gold vines. Corresponding gold decoration runs around the corpus. The stand features a filigree ornament frieze. Model number 50436. Sword mark. Height 35 cm. Stylistically, this type of flower painting stands in the tradition of the painting of Prof. Julius Eduard Braunsdorf (1841-1922), who turned away from the traditional canon of Meissen bouquet painting and developed a characteristic, fragrant-soft flower painting with a free, glazing brushstroke and a delicate color palette. His influence on subsequent generations of painters was significant. Two vases designed with flower arrangements by J.E. Braunsdorf were presented at the 1862 London World Exhibition. See catalog Bröhan Museum, V/2, p. 29 (form); Jedding, Meissen Porcelain of the 19th and 20th centuries, p. 101, no. 100; Berling, Festschrift, p. 109; Sonntag, Language of Flowers, p. 88 ff.; Neuwirth, Porcelain Painter Lexicon, Vol. I, p. 166. A splendid gold-decorated porcelain vase with arrangements of flowers in the manner of Prof. J.E. Braunsdorf. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. After 2000.
