Braunsdorf (1841-1922) revolutionized Meissen flower painting in the late 19th century. Departing from the traditional bouquet style, he developed a characteristic style with an impressionistic touch, characterized by a free brushstroke and soft, diffuse transitions. Subsequent generations of painters followed the Braunsdorf style and developed a wide variety of variants in Meissen flower painting.
