On a rectangular, profiled plinth stands a young woman in an antique-inspired, long, white chiton with a pink himation. With her head slightly raised, she gazes upwards. Her blonde, elaborately arranged hair, partly braided, is artfully styled. In her left hand, she holds a lyre. The polychrome painting is outlined in gold. Possibly by Johann Christian Hirt, around 1880-1882. Model number M 156. Some insignificant restorations; crossed swords mark. Height: 51 cm. Johann Christian Hirt (1836-1897), who studied classical sculpture under Max von Widnmann at the Academy in Munich from 1855 and later operated his own studio there, became known for his commissions for statues on public monuments and buildings. Among other things, he also worked on marble sculptures for the furnishing of the castles Lindenhof and Herrenchiemsee on behalf of King Ludwig II. He created allegorical figures and numerous models in which he thematized German legends and poetry as well as Greek mythology. In 1881, the Meissen Manufactory acquired various figurine models as well as some models. In 1888, they acquired a table centerpiece and chandelier for the Munich Arts and Crafts Exhibition. See Jedding, Meissener Porzellan, p. 150, Thieme-Becker, XVII, p. 144. A large, very rare porcelain figure group modeled by J. Chr. Hirt. Insignificantly restored. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Around 1900.
