White porcelain. A Bolognese dog sitting on its hind legs, with cracked eyes and an open mouth, its head turned to the left. Strongly worked in relief, with fur. Possibly by Johann Joachim Kaendler. Model number 78512. Some insignificant restoration. Sword mark. Height 43 cm. Bolognese dogs enjoyed enormous popularity in the 18th century, and they were among those highly esteemed gifts that the powerful of this world were accustomed to bestow upon themselves.
