A splendid porcelain mantel clock with allegories of the four seasons. The clock features a four-year cycle, ascending on three volute feet, with a baluster-shaped body adorned with strong relief plastic rocaille decoration. The visually striking design includes intricately applied flower vines. Below and as a crowning element, there are seated putti with corresponding attributes: flower garlands, sheaves of grain, and sickles, as well as a fire brazier, a wine wreath, and a wine goblet, personifying spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The polychrome painting is enriched with abundant gold detailing. The clock has a round clock case, an engraved brass dial with black Roman numerals, and a half-hour strike on a bell. It is attributed to Friedrich Elias Meyer, model number 2172. Minor restoration; crossed swords mark. Height: 46.5 cm. See catalog of the Royal Saxon Porcelain Manufactory in Meissen, 1904, page 44, number 2172. Meissen. Circa 1935-1945.
