On an elevated, relief-plastered rock base, sits the antique-styled goddess Juno as a half-act, with intricately styled hair adorned with pearls and a bow. She is clothed in a pink-colored fabric held by a belt adorned with gemstones, which she holds firmly with her left hand. With her right hand, she strokes the standing peacock at her side. Polychrome painting with subtle gold contouring. Model number 1235. Restored; sword mark. Height 39 cm. The Roman goddess Juno is equated with the Greek goddess Hera. Her associated attribute is the peacock. She is often depicted with a scepter and crown as well. She represents the "air" among the four elements. See catalog of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Meissen, 1904, page 64, number 1235. A large mythological early 20th-century porcelain figure of Juno with a peacock. Restored. Crossed swords mark.
