As butter dishes, these oval-shaped containers are supported by eight feet. They have side-curved handles in the form of dolphins. The domed lids are adorned with a fully sculpted knob in the shape of a swan with relief feathers, facing a putto. The walls and lids are decorated with relief motifs in the shape of shells, both horizontally and vertically ribbed, in the so-called Swan Service (Swan design), featuring colored Indian flower branches and scattered blossoms. On the narrow side of the lid, there is the coat of arms of the Count of Brühl and his wife (Brühl-Kolowrat-Krakowsky coat of arms). Either made by Johann Friedrich Eberlein in 1739, with fine polychrome painting in Kakiemon colors and gilded edges. Marked with crossed swords. Height: 12.5 cm. Width: 13 cm. In Eberlein's work report, the model is described as "1 butter dish like a shell, with a swan and child on it, along with two handles in the shape of fish." See Pietzsch, Catalogue Swan Service, No. 37. A splendid pair of lidded porcelain butter dishes with Swan Service decor and the alliance coat of arms of the Count of Brühl and his wife. Date mark. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. 1997.
