In front of a brown seated, crowned personification in rich ornamented dress and purple cloak with gold flowers. In the right hand holding an orb, in the left a scepter. At her feet the globe, surrounded by attributes of the fine arts. Polychrome painting with rich gold decoration. Either Johann Friedrich Eberlein, revised by Johann Joachim Kaendler. Restored; firing crack. Sword mark. H. 26 cm. The allegories of the four continents in the large version were commissioned in 1745 by Tsarina Elisabeth Petrovna of Russia. The figure group "Europe" was started in 1746 in this context, as mentioned in Eberlein's work reports: "1 figure, representing a part of the world, Europe, for the Russian commission." Cf.
