An allegorical porcelain figure group representing "America" from the series "Four Continents". The figure features plastic applied flowers and leaves, realistically designed pedestal. It depicts an Indian woman sitting on a crocodile, wearing a long feathered headdress and loincloth, as well as a rich feathered necklace, personifying the continent of America. In her right hand, she holds a horn filled with jewels. The figure is polychrome painted with gold accents. It is possibly by Johann Joachim Kaendler, model number 757, with some unknown restorations. It measures 18.5 cm in height. The four allegories of the continents are arranged in Kaendler's taxe (1740-48) after November 20, 1745. A slightly modified model of the group "Asia" was modeled in the summer of 1745 as part of a cycle and under the supervision of Kaendler by Johann Friedrich Eberlein. This was part of an order for Empress Elizabeth Petrovna for the Russian court.
