From the Italian comedy, on a curved rocaille base with ascending support, stand Julia, Lucinda, Corine with sheet music, Lalage with a knitting shawl and spoon, Leda, Donna Martina with a bottle, Arlequin with a whip, Isabella, Columbine with a black mask, and standing Anselmo with a cane and raised index finger, Mezzetino with a monkey baby, bearded Pantalone, Scaramuz in a dance step, Harlequin, Octavio, Captain Spavento, and Pierrot. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Either Franz Anton Bustelli, around 1760, partially retouched by Theodor Kärner, early 20th century; manufacturer's mark. Height 20 cm - 22.5 cm. Franz Anton Bustelli (1723-1763) is one of the most important porcelain modelers of the 18th century, alongside J.J. Kaendler; his series of the Commedia dell'arte is one of the masterpieces of the Rococo period and represents the highlight of his work. Bustelli created a total of eight interacting pairs in characteristic poses with partially expansive gestures and gazes. See Ziffer, Nymphenburg Porcelain, Collection Bäuml, p. 60.
