An exceptional and representative French Art Nouveau silver-plated brass and wooden flag pole with a sculptural tip and set with large colored glass stones. The pole is made of representative, figurative brass, silver-plated and walnut wood, partially turned and carved. It has a long baluster-like shaft made of wood with brass mounting, crowned by a removable tip held by a fixed screw, with a short, conically expanding shaft. The transition is adorned with filigree, pierced work of vegetal stems, ending in stylized ginkgo leaves and small flowers. On top of a standing sphere, there is a fully sculpted female statuette wearing a high-waisted, medallion-adorned dress. In her hands, she holds an overlapping, delicately wreathed crown of laurel branches and leaves, interspersed with flowers. Centrally mounted between the tip and the shaft is a so-called ribbon ring made of narrow struts with eight small carabiner hooks for hanging flag ribbons. Below, on the shaft, there is another hook serving as a suspension for the four corresponding cord bands, made of pierced work of vegetal leaf tendrils and stems, elegantly curved, horizontal flag holders. The flag pole, holder, and tip are set with set and cut apple green and dark blue glass stones. Overall height: 235 cm. Width: 132 cm. France, around 1900.
