(1884 Frauenaurach - 1961 Munich) Seated Eve with Apples. Bronze, dark patinated. Signed and dated "Munich II. 1922". This charming and rare small sculpture by May showcases his talent after his training as a stonemason in 1908, when he moved to Munich. There, he studied at the Municipal Modeling and Sculpture School under Franz Bernauer, and since 1911 at the Academy under Erwin Kurz. May completed his artistic education as an assistant in the studio of Adolph von Hildebrand. In 1919, May established himself as an independent sculptor, specializing in war memorials and monumental sculptures, including the Reichsbach Bridge in Munich. Height: 27 cm.
