On an irregular pedestal, standing in contrapposto, is a female half-act in a modest pose, with a gaze directed towards the ground. She is pulling a long, purple-draped cloth over her head and shoulders, to cover herself. The painting is sparingly done in polychrome, with bold colors. A radiating gold accent in the form of leaf motifs surrounds the figure. Either by Paul Scheurich, an original piece before August 1923, or the first porcelain execution in February 1928. Model number A 1206. Sword mark. Height 35.5 cm. This charming, stylistically typical representation by Scheurich is reminiscent of the soft, almost pastose modeling of the bathing subjects in compositional art history. Through the elongated proportions, pronounced contrapposto, and S-shaped lines, this figure gains the highest expressiveness. In contrast to the detailed and elaborate front view, he deliberately leaves the back view unfinished, in a "non-finito" manner. A 43 cm high bozzetto made by Paul Scheurich before 1923, from brown-tinted and sealed plaster, with a different base. Käthe Scheurich sold the model to the Meissen Manufactory in December 1927, which was first executed in 1928 under model number A 1206. See Raffael, Paul Scheurich. Meissener Manuskripte Sonder-Bd. VIII, fig. 33, p. 75, 154; Marush-Krohn, Pfeifferzeit, fig. 62, p. 99; Thieme-Becker, vol. XXX, p. 41ff. A rare porcelain figure of a semi-nude modeled by P. Scheurich. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1928-1934.
