Ivory-colored porcelain. Standing on a curved round base, a flute-playing youth with a loincloth and cape. Possibly Gerhard Schliepstein, 1933. Model number 1246. Restored; manufacturer's mark. Height 34.5 cm. This stylistically typical figure by Schliepstein features exaggerated proportions, angular and partially flat modeling, and expressive gestures. In the oeuvre of the significant sculptor, a series of comparable works can be found that were created between 1925 and 1933. From 1911, he created porcelain figures, initially for the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin, later for Meissen and other workshops, and exclusively for Rosenthal since 1929.
