"Wedding Procession" by Adolph Amberg of KPM Berlin with bronze mounting. 6-branch; white porcelain with gold decoration. Above on a curved pedestal with sculpted shells, a conically expanding, ribbed palm shaft with lance-shaped relief, ending in C-shaped folded leaves alternating with stylized fruit stands. Removable crown in flower calyx form with fully sculpted seated boy. Six curved candle arms with vase-shaped tulips over a round drip tray. Fine gold painting with vermicelli pattern. Either Adolph Amberg, 1904/1908-1910. Mounting renewed in the base. Scepter and painter's mark. H. 59.5 cm. In addition to a pair of candlesticks, a jardiniere and two footed bowls are listed in the KPM model book from October 1908 under model no. 9027. These belong to a multi-part, multi-figure conceived centerpiece that Adolph Amberg (1874-1913) had already modeled for the wedding of the Prussian Crown Prince in 1904. Since this caused a stir at court, it was not executed in porcelain until 1908-1910 by KPM under the direction of Theodor Schmuz-Baudiss in porcelain. The corresponding pendant to this model is crowned with a girl figure. In addition to his designs for porcelain execution, the sculptor is particularly known for his silver work. Cf. Cat. Bröhan Museum, Berlin Porcelain from Art Nouveau to Functionalism, no. 186; I. v. Treskow, The Art Nouveau Porcelain of KPM, p. 315, no. 9027; Krogemann, Berlin Crown Prince Silver, fig. 49; Westheim, in Deutsche Kunst und Dekoration, 29, 1911/1912, p. 82. A large early 20th century Art Nouveau gold-decorated candelabra from the centerpiece "Wedding Procession" modeled by Adolph Amberg. Mount on the bottom renewed. Scepter and painter's mark. KPM-Berlin. Early 20th century.
