White porcelain. Tall, rectangular pedestal. Standing eagle with outstretched wings, head turned to the right. Possibly by Max Esser, 1931. Possibly marked with date 1931 and model number A 1236. Minimal description; restored; hairline cracks. Crossed swords and impressed white ware mark. Overall height 54 cm. Figure height 29 cm. The significant animal sculptor Max Esser (1885-1945) studied at the renowned teaching institution of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin as well as at the Berlin Art Academy under August Gaul. For the Meissen Manufactory, he created numerous expressive animal models in porcelain and stoneware in the 1920s and 30s. Provenance: From the estate of a significant North German private collection. A rare porcelain figure of an eagle on base. Incised designer's signature. Minor damage. Restored. Hairline cracks.
