Sitting on a round naturalistic base, this majestic stone eagle is exquisitely crafted with a keen eye for detail, capturing a vigilant pose as it gazes to the right. The relief feathers are meticulously rendered, showcasing a polychrome painting technique. This piece is attributed to Arthur Storch, circa 1921, as indicated by the manufacturer's mark. It measures 43 cm in height and 70 cm in length. Storch was a specialist in creating large-scale animal sculptures and his 1921 creations for the exhibition at the Porcelain Palace in Leipzig are still regarded today as technical and artistic masterpieces of porcelain art. Provenance: From the estate of a prominent North German private collection. This monumental Thuringian porcelain figure of a golden eagle bears the manufacturer's mark of Volkstedt-Rudolstadt, the oldest Volkstedt porcelain factory, active from 1921 to 1937.
