Art Nouveau Figure Group "Three Girls, Blind Cow"

794 900.00

Playing "Blind Man's Buff" is depicted in a fully plasticized, scenically executed representation on an irregular pedestal. In the center stands a girl in a white dress with grayish, black, gold, and red accentuated borders. Flanking her are two friends in green or floral patterned dresses, supporting and freeing her from the blindfold. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Possibly by Theodor Eichler, 1905. Model number W 115. Minimal damage; crossed swords mark. Height 26 cm. Created from 1904 onwards, Konrad Hentschel's child figures are exceptionally true-to-life models of children and adolescents in a naturalistic habitus, a novelty in Meissen porcelain sculpture. Numerous thematically similar representations were also dedicated to this subject by Theodor Eichler, Max Bocmann, Emmerich Oehler, and Alfred König. The Meissen manufactory acquired the "Blind Man's Buff" group and the roulette players from Eichler. See Just, Meissen Jugendstil Porcelain, fig. 72 and p. 100ff. Provenance: From the estate of a significant North German private collection. An Art Nouveau porcelain figure group of three girls playing "The Blind Man's Buff". Minor chipped. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1905-1923.
