Faience, celadon green glaze. Elongated oval, graceful, curved Rococo form on four acanthus leaf-like feet, on the body above each a pilaster with acanthus relief, in between an applied flower garland, on the sides two opposing relief sculptural handles. Corresponding, vaulted cover with shell relief and large rocaille or acanthus handle adorned with a flower. The rim of the base and the cover each with the same floral border in polychrome sharp-fire painting. Some glaze chips. Height 27 cm. A French celadon-green glazed faience tureen with cover and floral polychrome painted decor. Minor chips to the glaze. France. 18th/19th century.
