Faience. Cobalt blue sharp fire decoration. On display is the coat of arms framed by palm fronds, with the electoral hat, the handle horizontally banded. Pewter mounting, the lid with a ball pusher, on the lid's upper side an inset relief medallion with a scenic depiction of a rider breaking a horse in front of a house, bidding farewell to a woman and saying "I travel away from this place". Glaze on the handle and lip edge damaged. Height 21.8 cm. A jug with a similarly soft painted, Kurbaierisch coat of arms and corresponding handle banding from the only existing manufacture in Donauwörth from around 1740/41, is located in the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven. A Bavarian pewter-mounted blue and white faience tankard with the coat of arms of the Electorate of Bavaria. Minor glaze chips to handle and rim. Southern German, probably Donauwörth. Around 1740/41.
