Ceramic, reddish-brown glaze. The body above with fine, melted scratches in the shard. Pewter mounting, cylindrical base with an exhibited, reliefed rim, on the neck a serrated ring, the reliefed lid with a ball pusher, marked: city mark of Naumburg ("1711" over crossed sword and key), quality mark "X", above "1710" for pewter assay and a mark of the master "I (J) CS" (man, supported on a stick or hammer). H. 26 cm. A rare German Saxon pewter-mounted pear-shaped glazed ceramic jug. Marked. Altenburg. Early 18th century.
