Sterling silver, so-called Britannia silver. Conical, smooth body on a flat stand. The slightly protruding lip rim, upper part of the wide ear handle, and stand ring are articulated by multiple profiled lines. The front side is engraved with initials below a coat of arms with a motto ribbon and a Latin inscription "Credo et Confido". Hallmarks, date letter "C", and indistinct maker's mark "IB" (?). Weight approximately 165 g. Height 8.5 cm. See Jackson, page 83. Provenance: From the dissolution of the private collection of Horst Abke, Springe. A small Charles II sterling silver handled mug with engraved coat of arms and monogram. Assay and indistinct maker's mark, date letter "C". England, London, 1660.
