Sterling silver. Over flat, displayed round foot pear-shaped body with angular offset shoulder. Wall alternately decorated with curved lines and relief floral and acanthus leaf decor. On the front side, a cartouche framed by rocailles and C-curves with engraved lion, holding a torch. High-raised, floral pierced work steeple lid with baluster knob. Underside with inventory number and monogram "L T". Hallmarks, maker Samuel Wood (active since 1733), date letter "d". Weight approximately 310 g. Height 19.5 cm. A George II sterling silver sugar caster by Samuel Wood (active since 1733). With engraved inventory number, monogram, and crest with lion holding a torch. Assay and master's mark. Date letter "d".
