(1882 Marggrabowa / East Prussia - 1919 Berlin) Märkische Dorfstraße Cold needle etching / Japan, 1913. Signed and dated (19)13 on the plate. Numbered 10/30. Magnificent, very gratifying and powerful print with plate tones. The composition is also known in a slightly different version, of which an example is held in the National Gallery of Art in Washington (inv. no. 1951.10.261). Provenance: From the collection of Ella Wellhoener (1872-1937), procurist of the art salon Paul Cassirer, Berlin; in family possession since then. Etc.
