With 2 lithographed title pages and a series of 34 (out of 38) original lithographs by E. Barlach. Published by Paul Cassirer, Berlin 1919. Number 120 of 190 numbered copies of the total edition of 300, signed by the artist in the colophon. Broad-margined print on Wattau laid paper, the illustration series on sturdy, yellowish copperplate cardboard. Lithographs printed on a hand press by M. W. Lassally, Berlin. Original half-linen binding. Text volume partially (mainly in the endpapers) minimally foxed; covers with minor discolorations; three lithographs with minor stains at one edge; four lithographs (plates 1, 4, 25, and 29) missing. 49 cm x 34.5 cm; the loose plates with lithographs approximately 34.5 cm x 48.5 cm. Artist's book in two volumes with 36 lithographs (including titles) on loose sheets. Published by the artist in 1922. Minor flaws to the covers, four lithographs lost, minor stains to the edges of three lithographs, partially minor foxing to the text volume.
