The surrealist glass sculpture executed by the Cristallerie Daum in Nancy reflects the close, almost 20-year collaboration between Dalí and Daum. Dalí's intentions of metamorphosis are manifested in the material properties of the soft-plastic and flowing Pâte de verre glass, which has been melted into form. In total, he created 21 models for execution at Daum in editions of 150 to 300 copies, making him one of the most creative and significant artists to ever collaborate with the glass manufacturer.
