(1904 Figueres / Catalonia / Spain - 1989 ibid) "La croix de Leibniz" (The Leibniz Cross). Original title Pâte de verre (or Pâte de Cristal) in purple, partially amber-colored tones, 1974. Artist's signature (- sign.) "Dalí", company mark "DAUM" and numbering "107/150" (raised in the form). H. 51 cm. The glass sculpture "La croix de Leibniz" executed by the Cristallerie Daum in Nancy reflects the close collaboration between the artist and the manufactory, which began in the mid-1960s and lasted almost 20 years. Dalí discovered that the translucent material properties of glass, especially the soft-plastic or flowing effects of colored Pâte de verre glass, were the ideal medium for his surrealistic expression of metamorphosis. In total, he created 21 models for execution at Daum, mostly in editions of only 150 copies, making him one of the most creative and significant artists to ever collaborate with the glass manufacturer. Purple and amber-colored Pâte de verre (Pâte de Cristal) glass sculpture, 1974. Signed "Dalí", marked "DAUM" and numbered "107/150".
