Silver, partly gilded. Flat, drawn round foot, transitioning into a strongly curved body with a smooth, profiled border and narrow lip. Vaulted hinged lid with an exhibited edge, crowned by a central baluster knob. Lateral, ear-shaped volute handles with divided, high thumb rest. Body and lid correspondingly adorned with driven, relief sculpted stems with punched leaves and large, naturalistic Baroque flowers. Gilded inside. Signed, tremolo stroke, hallmarks, master Marx Merzenbach (became a master around 1642). Weight approximately 240 g. Height 9 cm. Other silver objects by the same master can be found, among others, in the Bavarian National Museum, Munich, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and in the Metropolitan Museum, New York.
