578 100.00

Silver. Held by four stylized bird claws, the rectangular body of the piece is supported by spherical feet. The straight, rectangular body features an ascending, flattened hinged lid, with a visible keyhole. The edges are adorned with delicate ornamental bands. In the center of the lid is an extremely rare coronation medal, obverse side, featuring the bust of Queen Louise of Denmark (1667-1721), signed by Anton Meybusch. On the reverse side is a depiction of a crown surrounded by rays, on a pedestal with a royal monogram, surrounded by a Latin inscription and the date 1700. The lid is decorated with filigree-engraved laurel leaf festoons and flowers. Double engraved "A K," likely for Andreas Kannenvorff (active from approximately 1792). The key is missing. Weight approximately 1100 g. Height 11.2 cm, 20.5 cm x 13.5 cm. See Boje, volume 2, page 295, figure 6673. An extraordinary, probably Danish, neoclassical silver casket commemorating the coronation of Queen Louise of Denmark (1667-1721). Double master's mark "A K," probably for Andreas Kannenvorff (active since approximately 1792). Key missing. Likely Danish, late 18th century.
