Silver Matting
A special type of silver finish with a velvet-like, non-reflective surface

Silver matting is a finishing technique in which the metal surface is specially treated to obtain a velvet-like, diffuse texture without gloss. This effect is achieved by sandblasting, engraving, or chemical etching. Matting emphasizes the clarity of the relief, hides small scratches and fingerprints.
It is especially valuable for fine jewelry and items of table silver in the Art Deco or classical style.
Interestingly, sometimes craftsmen combine matte and mirror polishing on the same item — this creates an expressive contrast and accent on important details!
This method of treatment is suitable in the creation of designer vases, candy dishes, goblets, decorative tableware for auctions and luxury interiors.
