Description

"Galloping Elephant" is a fully sculptural depiction of a galloping, trumpeting African elephant with its trunk raised. The vibrant blue painting is complemented by shades of grey, black, and salmon-pink. Created by Karl Tutter in 1939, the piece has minimal restorations; it bears the manufacturer's mark and stands 31 cm tall. See May, catalogue "In the Sign of the Lion", Lorenz Hutschenreuther Art Department, page 432, no. 1845. This large German porcelain elephant, painted blue, was designed by K. Tutter. It underwent minor restoration and bears the Selb Hutschenreuther manufacturer's mark. Dated to the mid-20th century.
