
"Galloping Elephant" is a fully sculptural depiction of a galloping, trumpeting African elephant with an upraised trunk. The vivid blue painting is complemented by shades of gray, black, and salmon pink. Created by Karl Tutter in 1939, the piece has minimal restorations; it bears the manufacturer's mark and is 31 cm tall. See May, catalogue "In the Sign of the Lion", Lorenz Hutschenreuther Art Department, page 432, number 1845. This large German porcelain elephant, painted blue, was designed by K. Tutter. It has undergone minor restoration and bears the Selb Hutschenreuther manufacturer mark. It dates to the mid-20th century.
