Description

The 'Galloping Elephant' is a fully sculptural depiction of a running, trumpeting African elephant with its trunk raised. Its vibrant blue painting is complemented with shades of grey, black, and salmon pink. Created by Karl Tutter in 1939, there are minimal restorations; the piece bears the manufacturer's mark and stands 31 cm tall. See May, catalogue 'In Sign of the Lion', Lorenz Hutschenreuther Arts Department, page 432, number 1845. This large German blue-painted porcelain elephant was designed by K. Tutter. It has undergone minor restoration and bears the Selb Hutschenreuther manufacturer's mark. It dates to the mid-20th century.
