Description

"Leaping Elephant" is a fully sculptural depiction of a galloping, trumpeting African elephant with its trunk raised. The vivid blue paintwork is complemented by shades of gray, black and salmon-pink. Created by Karl Tutter in 1939, it has undergone minimal restoration; the piece bears a maker's mark and measures 31 cm in height. See Mey, catalogue "In the Sign of the Lion", Lorenz Hutschenreuther Art Department, page 432, no. 1845. This large German porcelain elephant painted blue was designed by K. Tutter. It has undergone minor restoration and bears the Selb Hutschenreuther maker's mark. Dated to the mid-20th century.
