Large Cork-shaped Meissen Porcelain Tureen with Hunting Decor and the Russian Coat of Arms

Meissen

Description

Semi-round body with high handles shaped like leaf volutes. On the curved lid, a fully sculpted handle in the form of a deerskin with a protruding deer's head. The body and lid are surrounded by densely applied, hand-modeled clusters of floral snowballs. On both sides in plastic rococo cartouches, the Russian coat of arms is depicted in relief. Against the background is the crowned double-headed eagle with a scepter and imperial orb, as well as the heraldic shield featuring Saint George as the dragon-slayer. A border of laurel leaves surrounds the scene. Polychrome painting with gold highlights. Model No. G 38. Unidentified restoration; sword mark. Body diameter 32 cm, height 38 cm. In the 19th century, an enthusiasm for snowball decoration was revived, leading to the production of series of models precisely reproduced with improved glaze and color formulation. Large cork-shaped porcelain tureen with hunting décor and Russian coat of arms. Minor restoration. Swords crossed. Meissen. Circa 1935–1945.

Как же впечатляет это произведение искусства! Скульптура оленя с такой реалистичной росписью заставляет задуматься о мастерстве художников XIX века. А герб России на супнице придаёт ей особую значимость и торжественность – настоящее сокровище для коллекционеров!
