Porcelain plaque. Hand-painted based on a painting by an unknown artist from the Villevalde school, depicting "Life Guards Horse Regiment in Paris in 1814," set in a wooden frame. Plaque size: 25.5 x 21.5 cm, frame size: 38.5 x 34.5 cm. Crafted by Lada Bystritskaya's workshop. Saint Petersburg, 2007. Hand-painted by Olga Volkova. 1812-1814. Moscow-Paris On September 14, 1812, the united European armies led by Napoleon I entered Moscow, believing they were bringing the light of civilization, liberation, and so on. However, on October 20, the "civilizers" left the capital of the "barbarian country" under the onslaught of the "wild hordes." The return visit did not take long: on March 31, 1814, after the bloody Battle of Paris, the "barbarians" entered the "stronghold of civilization." Unfortunately, photography was unknown at the time, but drawings and paintings served as good substitutes, allowing us to compare the behavior of civilized men and barbarians. Who is who, however, is up to you to decide.
