The porcelain plaque bears an inscription on the biscuit reverse: "Art workshop of Lada Bystritskaya. Created by artist O. Volkova". Adolf Ladurner (1789-1855) was born into the family of composer and pianist Ignaz Ladurner, a native of Tyrol. He studied painting with Horace Vernet and later lived and worked in Paris, creating works in the field of battle painting (parades, military actions). He exhibited his works twice at the Salon (in 1824 with the painting “Battle of Mataro,” and in 1827 – "Royal Uhlan Main Headquarters"). In 1830, he moved to Saint Petersburg, where he soon gained the favor of Emperor Nicholas I and produced for him depictions of military parades, formations, camp scenes, and uniforms of various branches of the Russian army. In 1836, the Imperial Academy of Arts recognized him as an academician for several works presented to it, and in 1840 he was elevated to the rank of professor. He died in Saint Petersburg in 1855. Many of Ladurner’s works were scattered, mainly in imperial palaces; his most complex and interesting piece is "The Triumph of the Opening of the Alexander Column" (located in the Hermitage). He died in Saint Petersburg on June 2 (14), 1855, "from paralytic exhaustion of the spinal cord." Buried at the Smolensk Lutheran Cemetery (section 4, granite stele on a pedestal, the tombstone is destroyed).
