Large KPM vase, Germany, 19th century. Porcelain, glazed, hand-painted, gilded. Portrait of Wilhelm III, King of Prussia. King of Prussia Frederick William III. So-called "French Vase". Shape-design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Body in the form of an amphora on a square base with a partially cobalt blue foundation, intricate floral borders, protruding neck, and flared rim. Handles in the form of acanthus leaf volutes, raised upwards on the sides. On the wall, a medallion etched in gold, depicting a half-length portrait of Frederick William III, painted with delicate sepia tones. The King of Prussia is in military uniform with epaulettes and several high orders, including the Star of the Order of the Black Eagle and the Iron Cross. Probably after a painting by court artist Franz Krüger. On the opposite side, a medallion of gilded oak leaves with the image of the Prussian eagle; Scepter and painting mark. Height 54 cm.
