A fragment of the Kiswah of Al-Haram

A rare fragment of the Kiswah—the sacred covering that is usually draped over the doors of the Kaaba or the doors of the Rawdah in the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. Made from black fabric with a lining, it is hand-embroidered with copper threads. The design features stylized Islamic patterns and Qur’anic inscriptions executed in calligraphic technique. The inscriptions stand out above the surface of the fabric, creating a pronounced relief.

The embroidery on the fabric includes: – The Shahada: “There is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”; – The names of the righteous Caliphs: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, as well as Hasan and Husayn; – Ayat al-Kursi; – Other Qur’anic verses decorating the belt and ornamental elements.

The condition of the fabric is consistent with its age (about 20 years); visible signs of wear, partial tears, cuts, and abrasions are present.
An exceptional piece of antique and spiritual value that would make a wonderful interior decoration.
