
After the death of Josef Lorenzl in 1950 his wife Anna (Ndzhura) Lorenzl destroyed a large number of his works. This made the surviving examples even more valuable, rare and expensive. A bronze figure by Josef Lorenzl, cold-painted, circa 1925. Modelled and cast as a partially draped young woman adopting an elegant pose, on a Belgian marble pedestal. Signed Lorenzl, foundry seal Argentor Wien. Height 50 cm. A bronze Art Deco figure of the early 20th century, executed in the cold-paint technique, depicting a nude dancer with outstretched arms in an elegant pose, holding the edge of a scarf wrapped around her waist, with one leg extended forward. The sculpture is notable for its excellent colour rendering and very fine hand-finishing of the surface. Mounted on a tall cylindrical onyx base and signed by Lorenzl. Height: 49 cm. Width: 28 cm.
