Contemporary artist Evgeny Terekhov was born in 1974 in Slyudyanka, Irkutsk region. He successfully graduated from the Irkutsk Art School in the painting department. He lives and works in St. Petersburg. The artist works in realism. His works are characterized by a certain “mistiness,” tenderness, and airiness. Terekhov's paintings are filled with light. He is remarkably skilled at conveying the beauty of the places he depicts, whether it’s a city or a small village. Judging by the artist’s works, he loves to paint landscapes. Especially the sea. In his canvases, the water is astonishingly vivid and alive: a variety of colors, reflections, and waves. Terekhov’s sea is always warm, often calm. The artist is distinguished by his love of detail. And by his brushstrokes, as well. It seems he paints with circular hand movements, as if placing commas. This makes us start exploring the painting: moving from detail to detail. Look at his "Painting: The Last Ray.” How much work has been put into it, and how many details are in the image! Terekhov’s still lifes draw special attention. In his paintings, the fruits seem almost alive: you can almost smell them, they make you want to eat them. The artist’s still lifes are not done in the traditional way (usually against drapery and from the side). More often, we see the fruits and vegetables from above. They rest on uniform surfaces, bathing in light. The compositions of his works are, without a doubt, impressive. Many still lifes read from bottom to top. The artist’s palette is very diverse. He can paint with adjoining bright colors, pure color, or he can create a work in its complete opposite: pastel, whitened, gentle. The works of Evgeny Terekhov are found in private collections in Russia, Europe, Japan, America, and India. They certainly deserve to be known, and the fruits from his paintings make you want to eat them!
