Artist The text "Агеев" is a Russian surname, transliterated as **Ageev** in English. Viktor Viktorovich

Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Viktor Viktorovich Ageev was born in 1939 in the village of Traktornaya Baza, Rugozersky District, Karelian ASSR. In 1959, he graduated from the Ryazan Art School, and in 1965 – from the monumental painting department of the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art (Stroganov School). He taught at the Ryazan Art School from 1965 to 1973. Since 1975, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. He has been a regular participant in art exhibitions since 1972. The artist’s monumental works are located in Ryazan, Yalta, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and other cities across the country. His easel works are held in the collections of the State S. A. Yesenin Museum-Reserve, the Ryazan Art Museum, art galleries in Smolensk, Kaliningrad, Lovech (Bulgaria), as well as in private collections both in Russia and abroad.
Viktor Ageev is a multifaceted artist who has made a bright mark in drawing, painting, and monumental-decorative art. He was never satisfied with merely repeating past achievements, and constantly sought new ways of artistic expression. Several stages in the artist’s creative journey can be traced at the exhibition, each distinguished by different themes and stylistic techniques.
Viktor Viktorovich mastered the Stroganov drawing system well. Being a student of such recognized masters as F. F. Voloshko and V. F. Bordichenko, he managed to find a balance between the strictness of constructive form and a sensitive attention to the character of the model. Drawing has always been one of the artist’s favored techniques. His graphite pencil portraits of contemporaries go beyond preliminary sketches, acquiring an independent strength and persuasiveness of image.
A special place in the artist’s work is devoted to the theme of traditional art and the creative continuity of folk masters. Genre scenes and portraits dedicated to the Sapozhkovsky songstresses, Mikhaylov lace-makers, and Skopin ceramists were created by V. Ageev in the 1970s–2000s.
Here is the translation of your text into English: The theme of generations is continued in a series of works created by the artist over the past decade, dedicated to members of his family. In his landscape paintings, the lyrical image of central Russian nature harmoniously coexists with the vividly colored views of Lake Baikal. Viktor Ageev pays great attention to the expressive appearance of the old streets of Ryazan, Kasimov, and Kolomna, as well as Smolensk—the city of his childhood. After 2002, when Viktor Viktorovich's world became limited to the space of his studio, the genre of interior painting became one of the main focuses of his work, revealing the artist’s feelings, reflections, and dreams. Light, both natural and artificial, gained special expressiveness in his works, conveying a wide emotional range of experiences. The exhibition at the Ryazan Art Museum includes more than eighty works. They present Viktor Ageev as a versatile master, a courageous person who, despite life’s circumstances, has not lost his optimism and faith in the power of the human spirit. For his outstanding paintings, many years of fruitful activity in the field of national culture, and personal courage, he is an honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Folk Art (painting).
