Central Russian icon, 19th century. "Virgin of Kazan". Tempera on panel. Oklad in embossed silver and enamel, Moscow, 1879, by Andrey Postnikov. With contrasts. Size: 50 x 44 cm. The present icon lies on the margin between sacred art and the decorative arts. This canonical representation of the Mother of God of Kazan is one of the most venerated iconographies of the Mother of God in the Russian Orthodox Church.
