Russian silver enamel cigarette case decorated throughout with ornate scrollwork and floral motifs. Impressed along the interior with the following marks: maker's mark of Ivan Khlebnikov; 88 zolotnik, Moscow; assay mark of Aggey Grigoryevich Svechin, 1875; a seal; unidentified maker's mark along the lip. Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Height: 4 1/2 in x width: 2 3/4 in x depth: 1 in. Gross weight: 213.9 g. Condition: No visible dents, cracks, or losses. No visible sign of restoration under UV light. The enamel decorations are intact; no visible cracks. The clip opens and closes smoothly. By the interior of the clip, there is a minute dent. Oxidation along the interior; there are networks of dark spots throughout the interior. Along the upper side of the interior, there are horizontal marks, possibly from a tape that was used to adhere to it; please see the listing image.
