Linocut

Linocut

Linocut is a printing process based on carving an image from a soft material called linoleum. This technique allows creating both original and editioned works, using tools to cut patterns or images. Although this process may seem simple, true masters of linocut pay great attention to details and marks to achieve the desired effect.

Linocut gained popularity in various art movements, such as Expressionism and contemporary art. This technique allows the artist to experiment with light and texture, creating striking works. One amusing aspect: sometimes, if the artist makes a mistake, they can use this "mistake" to create a new style or image.
