Description

Ceramic. Cylindrical, above a frieze of round openings. Externally, on a black background, stylized, polychrome decoration with an upside-down, young woman standing on her head, internally a silky matte, white glaze. Three-line workshop mark "CAPRON VALLAURIS FRANCE". H. 26.2 cm. Capron (1922-2006) founded a pottery in Vallauris in 1946, where Picasso also lived and worked from 1948-1955; in 1954 he received a gold medal at the Triennale in Milan, and in 1955 a silver medal at the Premier Festival International de la Céramique in Cannes.
