Art Deco Figurine "Seated Diana" by Meissen

Description

On a rectangular pedestal sits a nude Diana, bathing, with her upper body inclined forward and her head lowered, seated on a rock. Her dark, delicately curled hair is pinned with a golden comb. She is draped in a dress with a fine Indian floral pattern and blue lining, with a quiver full of arrows lying beside her. Sandals cover her feet. The flesh tones are delicately shaded. Polychrome pastel accents highlight the golden painted details. Authored by Paul Scheurich, circa 1920–21. Model number A 1046. Sword mark. Height 31 cm. The "Seated Diana" model was exhibited in Berlin prior to its introduction in 1921 and was offered for sale by the factory in November 1922.
